▸ 4th Annual · Hosted by CSU Physical Therapy
The Hustle for Heroes 5K is one morning you run it, walk it, roll it, or ruck it. You start on the Charleston Southern trails and finish on the stadium field. What you pay funds a Lowcountry veteran’s six months of coached training, nutrition, and a Battle Buddy.
Then go home knowing your entry put a Lowcountry veteran another month into recovery from PTSD, substance use, or the thoughts they have not said out loud to anyone but their Battle Buddy.
500 BUC Club Boulevard
North Charleston, SC 29406
Three years in, this race has sent every dollar it raises to WarriorWOD. 2026 sent $8,000.
Every entry in this race is attached to a specific person who spent years telling everyone they were fine. Six months of exercise, nutrition, and one Battle Buddy is what it took to make that true.
“For two years I told everybody I was fine. My wife knew better and I would not say it out loud. WarriorWOD put a gym on my calendar and a Battle Buddy on my phone, and somewhere in those six months I stopped performing fine and started being it.”
Danielle R. · U.S. Army · WarriorWOD Class of 2026
One morning, four ways to enjoy. Every one of them ends on the fifty-yard line.
The main event. A timed 3.1 mile run or walk that starts on the track at Buccaneer Field, loops the CSU campus on road and trail, and finishes back on the track.
TERRAIN
On road and off road
Same course, weight on your back, scored as its own division. Bring your own pack.
Suggested load
Posted at registration
Untimed run inside the football stadium that same morning, with giveaways and kids activities alongside it.
Ages
12 and below
Bring the gym, the clinic, the unit, or the office. Four is the minimum and there is no maximum. One team name, one fundraising page, scored against the other teams.
To fund a veteran
$1,500 to Support 1 Veteran
Early bird is the cheapest entry of the year. 2027 prices post with registration.
Four people is a team. Start it with two and recruit the rest by April. Every teammate gets their own fundraising link and the totals stack up on a leaderboard through race week. CSU has enough departments to make this a fair fight.
▸
Name your team when you register. Teammates join it later with the name.
▸
Every runner gets a personal fundraising page to share.
▸
A team that raises $1,500 has funded one veteran outright. Four people, $375 each.
Ten minutes of setup today, then five months to train and tell people why. Most participants raise more than their entry fee without ever asking a stranger for a dollar.
01
Claim your spot
Pick your event and register. Two minutes, one screen. Early bird is the cheapest entry of the year and it does not come back.
02
Put your name on a page
Turn on your fundraising page at checkout, solo or as a team of four or more. Add a photo and one line about why you are running. It takes longer to read this card.
03
Train out loud
Post the early miles, the bad ones included. People give to the person putting in the work, not the cause in the caption. Your training is the ask.
04
Cross the line
Come back onto the track, collect the themed medal, and hit the vendors. The veterans you funded will be standing at the finish.
WarriorWOD’s veteran PTSD recovery program pairs a veteran with a Battle Buddy and a Preferred Partner Gym for six months of coached training, nutrition coaching, and peer accountability. Train. Heal. Reconnect.
The results are measured, not asserted. Across program participants, PCL-5 scores fell an average of 14.42 points, from 43.37 before the program to 28.95 after. The analysis was independently verified by the College of Charleston under separate grant funding, and was not subject to WarriorWOD review before release. That is the outcome your entry fee buys.

2026 Finisher Medal
The 3rd annual ran on April 11, 2026, and raised $8,000 for WarriorWOD.
Sponsorship covers the cost of putting on the morning, which means more of every entry fee reaches a veteran. Your business gets the field, the shirt, the start line, and a morning full of neighbors who noticed you showed up.
We would rather sign you for three years than chase you every February, so multi-year partners get first call on naming and placement. In-kind counts the same as cash: shirts, medals, timing, water, food, security, and medical all get named on race day. Veteran-owned businesses go to the front of the line.
Every $1,500 sponsorship is one veteran through six months of the program. Not a line item, not overhead. One person, start to finish.
The 2027 RunSignup page goes live well ahead of race day and the buttons on this page will point straight at it. Early bird is the cheapest entry of the year, so get on the notify list if you want the first shot at it.
Yes. Runners, walkers, and rollers are all in, and nobody gets swept off the course. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome the whole way.
New for 2027. Same 5K course, your own pack, timed and scored separately from the runners. Suggested weight posts with registration. If you have never rucked, walk it with twenty pounds and you will be fine.
All proceeds benefit WarriorWOD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) veteran PTSD recovery nonprofit based in Johns Island, South Carolina, EIN 87-1065126. $1,500 funds one veteran’s complete six-month recovery: gym membership at a Preferred Partner Gym, nutrition coaching, monthly assessments, and a Battle Buddy.
Bring the gym, the clinic, the unit, or the office. Four is the minimum team size and there is no cap. Name your team when you register, have the rest join it later, and every teammate gets their own fundraising page. You compete on money raised as well as finish time.
The route is all terrain, on road and off. Strollers are allowed and should line up at the back of the start area, and because part of the course is trail, bring one built for it. Water is available at the 1.5 mile mark and at the finish. CSU doctoral physical therapy students offer free screenings after the race.
Rain or shine. Dress for the weather. Only lightning or unsafe conditions delay the start, and any change goes up on RunSignup and out by email to registered participants.
Register as a virtual participant when it opens, give directly, or send the sponsor packet to a business owner you know. $250 covers a veteran’s month either way.
Race questions go through the contact form on the RunSignup page. Sponsorship and volunteer questions come to WarriorWOD at [email protected].
Set your monthly level below. From there, the funding goes directly to the next Warrior Class. 93 cents of every dollar reaches the program.
You may not have been in the fight, but you can be on the team. Join the monthly donors funding the next 265 recoveries.
