PARTICIPANT EXPECTATION: Your Commitment to Recovery
Here’s what you can expect as critical parts of this healing path:
- Gym Visits: Engage in physical exercise by going to the gym at least twice a week. Embrace the strength and resilience that come with regular workouts.
- Nutrition Coaching: Meet with your nutrition coach at least once every two weeks. You’ll also conduct an Inbody or similar scan at the beginning, midpoint, and end of the program to track your progress.
- Battle Buddy Meetings: Connect with your “Battle Buddy” at least once every two weeks. Your Battle Buddy, a mentor who has walked in your shoes, will be there to listen, support, and encourage you on your journey.
- Program Progression Survey: Fill out the Program Progression Survey once a month to reflect on your growth and achievements.

What is the area of service for the WarriorWOD program
The WarriorWOD Program provides its services to any US Veteran struggling with PTSD regardless of geographic location. WarriorWOD prioritizes veterans residing in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Flordia. WarriorWOD is headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina.
How much does it cost to participate in the WarriorWOD Program?
The WarriorWOD Program is completely free for all participants; there are no fees to join.
Who is eligible to participate in the WarriorWOD "Exercise as a Prescription" Program
Eligibility for the WarriorWOD Program is open to all veterans, regardless of the veteran’s discharge status. The program is designed to accommodate participants of all physical fitness levels.

We’re committed to walking with you on your path to recovery. Our approach is rooted in the proven benefits of a healthy lifestyle, focusing on exercise, nutrition, and mental well-being. Research validates that these elements are essential for strong mental health.
What Is the "Exercise as a Prescription" Program?
WarriorWOD, first and foremost, is a Post Traumatic Stress and other invisible wounds recovery resource. We are not a free gym membership resource. Only apply if you are looking to recover from your invisible wounds.
Our program consists of three main components:
- Exercise: You’ll receive a 6-month gym membership to the fitness modality of your choice. We’ll coordinate the membership based on your preferences, encouraging you to exercise in a way that meets your physical needs.
- Nutrition: Our virtual nutrition coaching will guide you through healthy eating habits, macro intake, weight management, and body image. You’ll also have access to an In-Body machine to accurately measure Lean Muscle Mass and Body Fat Percentages.
- Mentorship: Connecting with fellow Veterans who can relate to your experiences, our mentorship program fosters accountability, motivation, and ownership. This connection drives results and aids in your PTS recovery.
What are the program participant requirements
To succeed in our program, you’ll need to:

- Exercise Regularly: Visit the gym at least twice a week.
- Connect with Your Mentor: Check in at least once every two weeks via phone, virtual conference, or in person.
- Meet with Your Nutrition Coach: Engage in nutrition coaching once every two weeks.
- Complete Monthly Surveys: Fill out the Program survey monthly to help us continue to improve.
Remember, humility, patience, and perseverance are key. Setbacks may occur, but don’t let them deter you. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
How Do I Apply to the WarriorWOD Program?
What Are the Application Periods and Cohort Start Dates?
(Subject to change based on the number of applicants and funding)
- Applications submitted by February 14th will be considered for the class starting in March.
- Applications submitted by April 1st will be considered for the class starting in June. For 2024, WarriorWOD will not have a June Class
- Applications submitted by August 1st will be considered for the September class.
- Applications submitted by November 1st will be considered for the class starting in December.
How Does WarriorWOD Decide Who Receives Support?
Am I Guaranteed Support If I Submit an Application?
We wish we could support everyone, but our ability to do so depends on funding at the time of review. Your application will be kept on file for 1 year, so you won’t need to resubmit every quarter.
When Are Applications Reviewed?
Applications are reviewed quarterly, typically in March, August, and November. For 2024, WarriorWOD will not have a June class.
