## A small team that needs more hands

Phil Palmer founded WarriorWOD in June 2021. He is a Marine combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient from the Battle of Ramadi, and he still handles most of the day-to-day work. Every hour a volunteer takes on, from an event shift to a marketing campaign, is an hour Phil can put back into the Warriors. One veteran’s six-month recovery costs $1,500, covered by donors. The veteran pays nothing. [About Phil Palmer and WarriorWOD](https://warriorwod.org/about/)

FAQ

## Volunteer for veterans: common questions

Something not covered? Email [info@warriorwod.org](mailto:info@warriorwod.org). Last updated October 2, 2026

How can I volunteer for veterans with PTSD?

There are three ways to volunteer for veterans with WarriorWOD. Work a fundraising event such as Burpees for Vets or the Hustle for Heroes 5K. Lend a professional skill like marketing, SEO, or social media from anywhere. If you served, mentor one Warrior for six months as a Battle Buddy.

Do I need to be a veteran to volunteer?

No. Event and skills volunteers come from every background. The Battle Buddy program is the exception: it is open to active duty US military service members and US military veterans.

Where are WarriorWOD events held?

Dates and locations post to each event page, including Burpees for Vets and the Hustle for Heroes 5K, and to WarriorWOD social channels.

What skills does WarriorWOD need right now?

Digital marketing, website SEO, and social media. If you work in another area of nonprofit operations, apply anyway and tell us what you do.

How is volunteering different from being a Battle Buddy?

Volunteers support events and operations. Battle Buddies are active duty service members and veterans, VA S.A.V.E.-certified, who walk one Warrior through six months of the program.

Is WarriorWOD a registered nonprofit?

Yes. WarriorWOD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 87-1065126.
